Texas' capital city of Austin is known worldwide for it's music, it's attitude and the proud weirdness exhibited by its residents. It is also known for the colorful and diverse food culture. Restaurants of all varieties blanket streets and when the weather is nice it seems as if everyone in the city has found their way to one of the sidewalk cafés or coffee shops around town.
For those seeking a little more intrigue in their dining experience however, Austin has another little offering, trailer parks of food trucks disbursed all throughout the city. There are currently in excess of 1200 food trucks dotting the Austin cityscape, some in bunches and some standing solo, each contributing a unique and tasty piece to the Austin food culture pie. The people who frequent Austin's food trucks are as diverse as the foods that are served within the fences of the trailer parks. Although every patron has their own personal reasons for frequenting the rolling restaurants, all can agree that the food truck culture offers something additional outside the realm of the more traditional culinary experience.
The lifespan of a food truck trailer park in Austin is unpredictable. The city's booming population and subsequent accommodation requirements makes the land on which the trailers sit a developmental Goldmine. Although exceedingly popular one of the trailer parks on south congress is slated for removal within the next month allowing for the construction of a hotel to service the downtown area.
