Texas BBQ Now Being Served Amphibiously
If you live anywhere near Austin, Texas, get yourself down to the lake this weekend for some delicious BBQ. If you're not from Texas, prepare yourself for a raging fit of food truck envy. To be fair, it's more like food barge envy, but the bottom line is that the food truck revolution has been taken to a whole new level thanks to Jamie Nelson and Kline Boyd, the owners of Double Trouble BBQ. What a breakthrough!
These young men, originally from Nebraska, have already left their mark in culinary history, giving the world its first amphibious restaurant, just months after the opening of the world's first amphibious ice cream truck in London. The Double Trouble BBQ barge drops anchor every weekend (weather permitting) in the Lake Austin Party Cove, from 11:30 AM until sunset. During the week, they pull their vessel out of the water and park it at 5300 South Congress Avenue.
Swim up, paddle up, jet ski up, just do whatever it takes. There must be no other experience like purchasing BBQ sandwiches from a floating restaurant. Just check this thing out! It's a simple, no frills, BBQ-smokin', lake floatin' beast, and that's how you know it will be mouthwatering-ly scrumptious.
By the way, the S.S. Double Trouble (as I like to call it), provides free beer and live music on Thursdays. Although it's not on the water, it's free beer and live music, so you can't go wrong.
